Breast Augmentation
Breast Augmentation is a major decision in any woman’s life and that is completely a woman’s personal choice. It is true that the Breast Augmentation may be expensive and the final results cannot be guaranteed or even predicted. But it is the best-known procedure that can successfully enhance the breast size using fat transfer or fat transfer. Procedure

Mostly the incisions are made along the areolar edge (per-areolar incision). Infra-mammary incision which is the fold under the breast, axillary incision which is in the arm pit. The incisions made are highly dependent on the implants used and the desired degree of enhancement.
- Breast augmentation via fat transfer utilizes liposuction to transfer fat from other parts of the body to the breasts. Fats are usually extracted from the hips or thighs. Thus this procedure not only helps in breast augmentation but also provides a better shape to the body. The fat is extracted via liposuction and is purified and centrifuged before injecting the fats into the breasts. Breast augmentation via fat transfer is performed to increase only a single cup size.
These implants are positioned under the pectoral muscle or directly behind the breast tissue which is over the pectoral muscle.
Finally, at the end of the procedure, the incisions are sutured and the adhesive or surgical tape is used to close the skin.
Types of Implants
- Silicone gel implants– These implants are filled with soft silicone gel that helps to maintain the shape and size of the breasts. They are available in a number of sizes.
- Saline solution implants– These are implants with saline solution in it which the body can absorb safely with no side effects. But these implants are more prone to rupturing and does not give a natural look if compared with that of soft silicone implants.
- Gummy Bear Breast implant-In this implant, the consistency of the silicone gel is more than any traditional implants. This implant is tapered at the top and has more projection in the bottom.
- There is also round breast implant, smooth breast implant and textured breast implants that may be used for the procedure.

Risks & Complications
The rate of complication involved in the fat transfer is less but the chances of having cysts, infection, and death of the fat cells may occur. Surgeons may have tissue expansion system or touch up injections to enhance the results.
The side effects may include anesthesia risks, bleeding, infection, change in nipple sensation, poor scarring, implant leakage or rupture, fluid accumulation, etc. Surgeons suggest performing mammogram to ensure the condition of the implant and to replace these implants after every 10 years to avoid complications or infection.
Results
The results are immediately seen after the surgery. Swelling will subside and incisions will fade over a period. The patient should be aware that the breast implants will not last for long. Breast implants might need to be replaced over a period.
