Surgeons usually perform the procedure under local anesthesia to provide comfort to the candidates undergoing it. The areas where liposuction is to be performed are marked down before beginning with the final procedure. The small incisions are made on those marked spots.
A diluted local Anesthesia is injected into those areas to reduce the bleeding and trauma. A thin hollow tube which is called cannula is inserted through the incisions to loosen the extra fat cells. The cannula is moved in a controlled back and forth motion to dislodge and loosen the fat. This fat is then sucked out from the body by using a surgical syringe attached to that cannula.
The results are visible immediately after the procedure but the final results may be visible after the swelling and fluid retention subsidies. Often the surgeon prefers in combing the liposuction procedures with other procedures like tummy tuck, thigh lift, breast reduction, etc.
