With age, our body undergoes numerous changes, and so does our appearance. The change occurs due to the decreased elasticity and firmness of the skin. However, at some point of the life, it becomes pretty much hard to ignore the vivid signs of aging when you look at the mirror. Aging takes a toll in a number of ways like the appearance of little wrinkles around the eyes, lips will start bothering you and will affect your quality of life.
However, cosmetic surgery has opened up various options for turning back the clock without going under the knife. Yes, this is true and by following these methods anyone can lighten the effects of time that are visible on the face.
The non-surgical anti-aging treatment options that are available:
Injectable includes-
- Dermal fillers
- Muscle relaxers
- Liquid facelifts

Non-surgical anti-aging treatment procedures:
- Dermal fillers- These injectable fillers are typically injected under the skin so that it can fill the deep folds and cover up the smile line. Fillers are often used to create a fuller lip, fill out hollow cheeks and eyes. Therefore dermal fillers are not only responsible for smoothing or tightening of the skin but it can also change the facial profile to a more youthful and rejuvenating one.
Normally collagen was used as a standard filler. But recently, hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance is also quite popular and extensively used. This hyaluronic acid lasts for somewhere between six months up to a year though it depends on the area of treatment. In areas where the face is less prone to movement the results last longer there. It has been proved that hyaluronic acid injections give a more permanent anti-aging effect by stimulating the growth of the collagen.
- Synthetic fillers- The most common synthetic filler is Radiesse which exhibits a long-lasting effect for about 12 to 18 months. The main risk associated with synthetic fillers are the formation of lumps under the skin that requires surgical intervention for removal. It may also be responsible for changing the structure of the skin with age.
- Fat Transfers- The procedure encompasses transferring the fats from own body which is first extracted and then processed and finally injected into the face. However, the procedure may be expensive and the results may last only for 10years or less as there is a possibility for the fat to get reabsorbed into the body.
- Botox- Botox or Botulinum toxin is a muscle relaxer that basically paralyses the muscles when injected. This prevents the skin from creasing and hence reduces the appearance of wrinkles. It works best on the frown lines on the forehead by smoothing them down and prevent them to appear more prominently in future. Botox is not the cure for sun-damaged skin or lines caused due to sagging skin. However, the results may last only for few months so candidates may require a follow-up appointment to continue the results without having the wrinkles retreat.
- Chemical peels- There are a variety of chemical peels that can be applied to the skin and will give a youthful glow. People with sensitive skin in most cases require a light chemical peel as that doesn’t produce too much of redness or sensitivity to the skin. Whereas others with normal skin may require deeper chemical peels which may cause minor irritation but the results may vary slightly. The chemical peel is responsible for removing certain layers of skin that help to reduce the appearance of the wrinkles and bring a more youthful and rejuvenating appearance.
- Microdermabrasion- This encompasses the use of fine crystals on the face and removes the dead skin cells. It may also help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and also improve the texture of the skin. The redness and swelling may last for few hours after undergoing the procedure.
- Laser treatment- Laser treatments act on the surface of the skin as well as deep below the skin. The wavelength of the laser depends on how deep the laser beam can penetrate into the skin. The laser treatment is found most effective on the lines and wrinkles and also improve the skin tone, texture, and tightness of the skin. The laser beam when penetrates the skin destroys the damaged tissues which are later on replaced with new healthy tissues which in turn result in giving a rejuvenating smooth skin. However, lasers are not effective for deep lines.
